Onshore custody transfer metering packages vary in many ways and the design of a metering system is depending on the application. Oil Production Plant

An oil production plant is a facility which performs processing of production fluids from oil wells in order to separate out key components and prepare them for export. Typical production fluids are crude oil, gas and produced water. As a specialized metering package manufacturer, ODS Metering Systems have in-depth knowledge of all custody transfer metering techniques that are used to measure liquids or gases. ODS provide design, engineering, manufacturing, testing, packaging, installation, start-up and maintenance for the full metering package including crude oil export, gas export and produced water metering systems.

Oil Refinery

Oil refineries refine crude oil into petroleum products such as diesel, gasoline and heating oils. ODS offer the full metering package that is required for refineries including crude import metering skid and all the export metering skids for Diesel, Jet Fuel, Heavy Oils, Naphtha as well as the Gas metering skids. Beside green field projects, ODS can also execute packages requiring Upgrades and Refurbishments at refinery process plants.

Gas Processing Plant

Extracted natural gas is transported to processing plants. It typically exists in mixtures with other hydrocarbons; principally ethane, propane, butane, and pentanes. In addition, raw natural gas contains water vapor, hydrogen sulfide (H2S), carbon dioxide, helium, nitrogen, and other compounds. The gas processing plant is used to separate all of the various hydrocarbons and fluids from the pure natural gas, to produce what is known as ‘pipeline quality’ dry natural gas. The custody transfer metering package for a gas processing plant typically contains an export gas metering skid and condensate metering skid. For this metering package, ODS offer the full scope from design, engineering, manufacturing, testing, delivery to start-up and commissioning.

Petrochemical Plant

The flow metering package within a Petrochemical plant probably is the most complex of all onshore applications. Due to variation in products, the individual metering skids vary in design and size. Typical custody transfer metering systems are import metering systems e.g. for Naphtha, Feed gas etc. and all export metering systems e.g. for olefins (including ethylene and propylene) and aromatics (including benzene, toluene and xylene isomers). ODS Metering Systems particularly excel in complex projects with different products, metering techniques, extended Metering Control Systems and HMI interfaces.

Terminal / Tank Farm

Import and export of gases, oil or LNG at terminals or tank farms usually is a Custody Transfer Measurement point. ODS is an experienced manufacturer of batch loading metering stations such as a ship loading / unloading metering skid, train loading skid, truck loading skid, etc. Especially ship loading and unloading systems come with challenges in terms of air content, high flow rates, pressure drop and sampling that all can have a big impact on the uncertainty and reliability of the metering system.

Pipeline

Pipeline flow metering typically involves large line sizes with transfer of product in huge volumes and more importantly, involves transaction of large amount of money. ODS Metering Systems designs and delivers state of the art pipe line metering skids with the lowest possible uncertainty. For years ODS Metering Systems has been involved in pipeline flow metering. From traditional crude oil, refined products or (natural) gas stations to high demanding LNG, LPG, CNG and cryogenic applications. We can develop and build the most suitable bespoke metering solutions.

H2 Measurement

Hydrogen (H2) measurement, Energy carrier of the future?

Hydrogen production is categorized by three methods. Firstly “Grey Hydrogen”, which is made with fossil fuels. Secondly “Blue Hydrogen” which uses carbon capture technologies to release the CO2 emissions and lastly “Green Hydrogen” which is made by using renewable energy. Despite the production method or end-usage in all cases the hydrogen created must be transported and somewhere along the line, measured. ODS has experience with metering systems for both Pure (99%<) Hydrogen and Hydrogen blends (Combustion gas blends). Hydrogen measurement has its own measurement challenges due to its properties, including very strict quality and testing requirements. CO2 measurement

Carbon Capture, Utilisation and Storage

With climate change becoming a more important subject of discussion, the reduction of CO2 emission is key in meeting the targets as established in the Paris Agreement (UNFCCC). In many industries, CO2 is a large by-product of the process. By capturing the CO2 and utilizing it for greenhouses and soda factories, or storing it in exploited gas fields, CCUS is expected to contribute 20% of the global CO2 emission reduction.
